#WeAreOSDWednesday – Shelby Pausewang – OSD Texas

Region: Texas
Chapter: Central Texas
OSD Affiliation: Team Leader
OSD Member Since: “I have been a volunteer for the past two years and became the Central Texas Chapter lead on July 1, 2018.”
Why did you join OSD?
“I found myself inspired by this organization and what they stand for. I come from a family of Navy Veterans and I felt compelled to reach out and see what I could do to help.”

What has been your favorite event with OSD?
“Sleeping in the back of my jeep helping anyone and everyone after the Hurricane Harvey catastrophe hit the Texas Coastline. Everything we did during that time from establishing supply drop points throughout the coastline, to meeting people like Mike Allen, and cutting trees down with team RWB and team Rubicon to free up and re-establish power lines, showed me that the OSD mission was much greater than one person and one cause.”

How do you personally serve your community through OSD?
“I started off as a volunteer 2 years ago and thanks to the faith and support of the leadership team, as of July 1, 2018, I am the team lead for Central Texas.”

What inspires you?
“Inspiration comes in many forms. My dad and uncle’s service in the Navy is what really opened up my eyes to giving back.”

What is your favorite book? Why?

“What the heck is EOS? by Gino Wickman and Tom Bouwer.”

How has OSD impacted you and your family’s life?
“Since we are an OSD family we give together, learn together, and sweat together. #WeAreOSDFamily.”

What would you say to someone considering joining OSD?
“We are an all-encompassing organization that affects everyone, not just military. I understand that because I’m a civilian in a serious relationship with a Veteran.”
