Why did you join OSD?
“I joined OSD upon transitioning from the Military. I met some of the crew at an event OSD was doing for soldiers at the Ft Bragg WTB. Watching the impact they had and witnessing the smiles they created was incredible. I listened to their stories and believed when they said that there is more out there than what you expect, it felt like a call to serve and that call hasn’t gone away.”
What has been your favorite event with OSD?
“My favorite event with OSD would have to be the time we were invited to set a display up for the Fayetteville North Caronlina 2017 ComicCon. There I got to meet The Hulk (Lou Ferrigno), Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) and the Yellow Power Ranger (Alyson Sullivan).”
How do you personally serve your community through OSD?
“I continue to serve my community by volunteering my time for community service projects, spreading awareness about OSD’s mission at events, and fulfilling Supply Drops for deployed service members.”
What inspires you?
“My inspiration comes from the many ‘Thanks’ I get from service members and their families. And the joyous smiles this organization brings from its impact.”
What is your favorite book?
“The Price They Paid by Michael Putzel.”
How has OSD impacted you and your family’s life?
“I will never forget the time I sent soccer balls to a military unit in Syria. From time to time, I receive great feedback from our troops letting me know that they are safe and have received a Supply Drop OSD sent. When I received a message letting me know the soccer balls I sent had found homes with children who had lost all in a war-torn country, I was so honored and blessed. It was amazing to see the smiles on the children’s faces from just a ball.”
What would you say to someone considering joining OSD?
“I would say to anyone interested in joining these ranks that you will not be disappointed. Do it!! It is a good feeling to be a part of something bigger than yourself and witnessing the impact created by your work and time.”
