USAF Task Force Black Deployment in Afghanistan Gets a Boost with “Supply Drop” from OSD

FORT GEORGE G. MEADE,  MARYLAND February 26, 2018 /For immediate release/ — OSD “Supply Drop” en route to US Air Force Task Force Black deployed to Afghanistan from Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

SSgt Akira B., said, “I am a former OSD volunteer and I have been an active duty Airman for over 5 years. My team “Aloha Snackbar” raised $500 in 2015 during the 4th Annual 8-Bit Salute, and I had the great opportunity to have bumped into the OSD leadership team during PAX East the following year. Now I have been selected to deploy to Task Force Black, a unit charged with providing force protection to the airfield at my location. Our unit has a very demanding ops tempo, but during our down time we like to kick back and relax by gaming.”

“Our team likes good couch games, whether cooperative or competitive. Oddly enough, myself and a few other guys have found joy in playing Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’13 that we found hiding at the bottom of a drawer.”

Laeth Damon, OSD Warehouse Manager, said, “We’re happy to bring Task Force Black into the current century with a new console and games along with coffee from Starbucks. We’re certain their down time enjoyment with increase significantly, no longer having to rely on Mr. Woods for enjoyment.”

Task Force Black will be receiving items from Starbucks, GAEMS, Bezier Games, Steve Jackson Games, Bethesda and other key partners.

OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted over 150,000 active military personnel this year to troops in dozens of locations around the globe.
