US Army 10th Mountain Troops Alongside Multinational Forces Await Morale-Boosting OSD ‘Supply Drop’ in Afghanistan
FORT DRUM, NEW YORK & FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA (March 5, 2018) /For immediate release/ — US Army 10th Mountain Soldiers deployed from Fort Drum, New York to Afghanistan late last year with short notice resulting in much of their support gear being left behind.
The 1-87th troops are in dire need of support to ensure high morale due to the lack of USO or MWR facilities.
PV2 Dan C. said, “My squad has been tasked out away from our company to an Italian base Camp Arena just outside of Herat City. Being an Italian base we don’t have a USO or an MWR. Since we had such little time to prepare we had to stay late nights getting accountability of all of our gear and on down time we had to get our bags packed for the trip.”
“Our Unit is currently deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Freedom Sentinel. We are here to assist with Special Forces 10th Group ODA 0245. We run operations with other ODA teams spread out across RC South along with the 4th and 9th SOK Afghan Commandos.”
OSD has shipped a “Supply Drop” to these warriors to bring them together along with our allies forces. The unit is due to stay in country through the mid-summer.
Glenn Banton, OSD CEO and Executive Director stated, “These unique opportunities not only provide life-changing support to our own troops, but build the bridge with our numerous allies. We look forward to continued contact with 10th Mountain throughout this deployment.”
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe.
