Thousands of Redeploying Troops Benefit from OSD Provided ‘Supply Drop’ at Passenger Terminal in Afghanistan

FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (April 5, 2018) /For immediate release/ — US Air Force 455 Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, from Elgin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, is responsible for redeploying troops for their return home. While they did have morale and welfare support on their installation by way of televisions, it was not nearly enough for the needs of the over 10,000 troops that pass through the terminal on an annual basis.

CMSgt Daniel G. said, “We are currently deployed to Afghanistan, our entertainment options are very limited. These gaming consoles, board games and coffee will be used in our passenger travel holding area were over 10 thousand service members travel through each year. We currently have no entertainment options other than TVs.”

“A [Supply Drop] would be a huge addition to the morale and welfare of our installation. These gaming systems would support and provide comfort to all of our service branches traveling through our passenger terminal.”

These troops are now enjoying games, coffee and other supplies from generous donors including Starbucks, Microsoft, Disgruntled Decks, FanDuel, GAEMS and other key OSD partners.

OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. This unit will return home in the spring as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events in Northern Florida.
