Team Leader

Team Leaders work with the Program Director and additional staff in and around a specific city.  The mission is to build local groups of active duty, veterans and civilian supporters devoted to giving back at the local community level. You will do this while creating a welcoming community where these individuals from different walks of life can relax, have fun, affect others and be accepted around a shared purpose.

Chapter Leaders work with the Program Director and additional staff throughout a specific local community often within close proximity to a military installation. The mission is to build local groups of active duty, veterans and civilian supporters devoted to giving back at the local community level. You will do this while creating a welcoming community where these individuals from different walks of life can relax, have fun, affect others and be accepted around a shared purpose. The Teams are semi-autonomous chapters all working independently as well as in conjunction with each other in support of the OSD mission of supporting veterans. Chapters are self reliant and come up with interesting and beneficial events that engage their chapter members, local veterans, civilian supporters, and their community as a whole. Chapters work closely with local businesses, organizations and companies to help with growth and sustainability. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with Program Director to impact service-members and families on nearby installation
  • Work with Program Director to impact veterans in your local community
  • Work with Program Director to build a supportive community rooted in service to others

  • Dedication to serving veterans
  • Use of email and communication platforms
  • Ability to recruit additional volunteers
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • Highly creative and imaginative
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Enthusiastic, social, and confident demeanor

Preferred

  • Experience with or interest in non-profit organizations
  • Experience in Community Building and Volunteering

Details and How to Apply

  • Supervisor: Program Director and/or Regional Director
  • Type: Part-time, 10+ hours/week
  • Location: TBD on location and availability, must live within 100 miles of active military installation
  • Unpaid: A letter of recommendation can be provided in support of course credit.
