Special Forces Operation Unit Deployed to Afghanistan Gets Morale Boost in the Form of an OSD ‘Supply Drop’
TACOMA, WASHINGTON & AUSTIN, TEXAS (July 31, 2018) /For immediate release/ — Soldiers of the Special Operations Forces Team (SOFT) from Joint Base Lewis-McChord are deployed to Afghanistan. They are there to advise for the Afghan election. These soldiers work long hours in difficult conditions.
SPC Rickie G said, “We work seven days a week with no days off. The hours we work range from 10 to 15-hour shifts. We take indirect fire all the time and never leave camp except to go on missions that last for days.”
SPC Rickie G. was looking for a way to help boost morale amongst his fellow soldiers. He thought something to fill their downtime could be a huge help. He continued, “It would be nice to have something to do with our downtime to build up our morale. Some of my buddies don’t have anything back home to help keep them motivated. All some of us have is each other.”
OSD was happy to get a Supply Drop in their hands.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in the Summer as members of OSD’s Northwest Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Tacoma.
