Soldiers of the 1-171 TF Iron Dragons are deployed to Afghanistan. They are a unit made up of soldiers from four different states (Mississippi, Wyoming, New York, and New Jersey).
Together, they provide Aerial Medical Evacuation coverage to the ground troops should they be injured.
Sergeant Joseph T. explained, “We sit ready 24/7 to be called upon and en route within fifteen minutes to get the wounded off the battlefield.”
Their job entails a lot of downtime and when they are called to action, they see some difficult things. They were in desperate need of something to help pass the time and provide an outlet from the stress of the deployment.
Sergeant Joseph T. continued, “Due to our mission, we have a lot of downtime sitting around the shack waiting for a call. We are requesting support to help us pass the time and help take our minds off of the serious situations and injuries we see in the back of our aircraft.”
