Soldiers from the 5th Air Defense Artillery in Need of Morale Boost Get OSD Supply Drop

Soldiers of the 5th Air Defense Artillery are deployed from Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Afghanistan. They are responsible for the force protection of 8 FOBs throughout the country.

SGT Jonathan C. explained, “We supply aerial defense when it comes to all air strikes. We are the Counter Rocket Artillery and Mortar Unit.”

It is a big job and often results in long days. There is little for these soldiers to do to rest, relax, and boost morale. Some of the soldiers stationed at the more remote FOBs have even less.

SGT Jonathan C. continued. “With an average of 12 hrs on duty, morale is low amongst my soldiers. Work, gym, and downtime. Then repeat. A lot of them just got to the unit and some are back over here after being on tour in Iraq. The MWR and other facilities don’t offer much and some of our smaller locations don’t have anything, not even a mailing address. Everything comes to us then we forward it via kicker boxes on a bird.”

OSD Supply Drops are full of morale-boosting items and we were happy to send on to these hard-working soldiers.

These troops are now enjoying games, coffee, and other supplies from generous donors including Starbucks, Rip It Energy, Disgruntled Decks, FanDuel, GAEMS, and other key OSD partners.

OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in the Summer as members of OSD’s Midwest Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Fort Sill.
