OSD Volunteers with GAEMS for GE2 Conference in Seattle, Bringing Fun to the Military Community

SEATTLE, Wash., October 22, 2017 /For immediate release/ — Over a half dozen members of OSD’s Seattle chapter volunteered alongside partners GAEMS and Virtual Sports NW at the GE²® Conference at CenturyLink field in Seattle, Washington.

Chance McPheron, Regional Director for OSD Northwest, said, “It was a great opportunity to return the favor to local companies that have supported our efforts, while also getting a chance to see the most innovative entertainment technology.” GE2 included numerous attendees from the Seattle-Tacoma military community, many of which call Joint Base Lewis-McChord home.

Called a “High Tech Carnival” by GeekWire, thousands of gamers, pilots, makers, and dreamers at GE²® experience drone racing, virtual reality, robotics, Esports, gaming, laser tag, maker-demonstrations, arcade games, and more through numerous interactive zones.

GAEMS has played a substantial role in the OSD supply drop program since 2011, providing video gaming care packages to deployed soldiers as well as those recovering in military hospitals. Virtual Sports NW has served as a venue and partner for OSD Seattle to host Joint Base Lewis-McChord Warrior Transition Battalion soldiers for “Respawn” VR (Virtual Reality) Therapy on a monthly basis.
