OSD Texas Hosting “Thank You Deployments” for Military Community Members at PAX South
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (January 10, 2018) /For immediate release/ — OSD Texas is hosting over a dozen veterans for “Thank You Deployments” during PAX South as the event returns to San Antonio for the 4th year.
Recipients of OSD “Thank You Deployments” are chosen by the community and will include Central Texas based veterans, active-military and recovering veterans from the Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) Warrior Transition Battalion (WTB). OSD has been working closely with BAMC for 3 years including provisioning a large “Supply Drop” for occupational therapy in the Burn Center.
OSD CenTX Team Leader, Chris “Doc” Renfro, said, “It’s an honor and a privilege to provide these ‘Thank You Deployment’ experiences for veterans and their families. PAX will allow these veterans to get hands-on with new games and technology for a day to remember.”
PAX (Penny Arcade Expo), started in 2004, established a convention exclusively for gaming, following in the footsteps of comic, anime, and other geek hobbies. The event, initially started near Seattle, Washington, has grown to include annual expos in Boston, Massachusetts; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Melbourne, Australia; and San Antonio, Texas.
Lance James, US Army Veteran, OSD Program Director and Community Manager for Versus Evil, will also be in attendance to speak with industry partners regarding opportunities to impact the military community through their games, events and products.
