OSD ‘Supply Drop’ Incoming to Multinational TAAC-N Troops Operating in Afghanistan to create MWR Facility

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON (JBER), ALASKA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (March 3, 2018) /For immediate release/ — The current mission in Afghanistan under Resolute Support has the US military and nearly two-dozen allies working together to Train, Advise and Assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.

Within this mission, our troops are often away from the main force up to 14 days at a time, and returning to bases with no facilities for Morale, Wellness or Recreation.

TAAC-N uplift Company Commander Douglas A. wrote, “We conduct expeditionary operations on the most remote COP in Afghanistan. Our mission involves setting up expeditionary TI and MSS forward staging bases”

“Our guys are truly living Spartan. They work extremely hard and have absolutely zero MWR facilities in which to blow off steam. Additionally, our soldiers don’t have wifi (first world problems in a third world country) like most of modern day deployers.”

“We are one of the few companies that fully support ourselves; we cook all of our meals, pull all of our own security and improve the COP on which we live. Don’t take this as complaining, WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!”

Laeth Damon, Army Veteran and OSD Warehouse Manager, stated, “By providing an outlet for these soldiers between missions, OSD is able to build unit cohesion and increase overall morale. Additionally, our support will extend to our allies to increase the level of trust that is required to successfully execute on our mission in Afghanistan. We’re building bridges with fun, games and caffeine.”

Douglas’ unit will return to JBER in Alaska in the early Summer.
