OSD ‘Supply Drop’ Helps Break Up Deployment Monotony for Marines Deployed from Camp Lejeune
JACKSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (October 30, 2018) /For immediate release/ — The Georgia Liaison Team 7 is deployed from Camp Lejeune to Afghanistan. Tasked with advising the Georgians on how to conduct wire security and patrols, many of these Marines don’t have regular access to MWR facilities.
Staff Sergeant Christopher M. explained, “Many of our Marines as assigned to ECPs 24 hours a day, they eat and sleep there, and don’t have regular access to the on-base MWR facilities or the PX. Others work nights when many things are closed. The biggest pain really is how expensive the internet is. That means that much of our entertainment has to be physical and not a digital stream.”
Additionally, this is the first deployment for many of the Marines in the Company and Georgia Liaison Team 7 was in search of a morale boost. Staff Sergeant Christopher M. continued, “We have just gotten to Afghanistan. Its many Marines first deployment and any support from OSD would be greatly appreciated.”
