OSD Supply Drop Helps 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment Improve MWR
Soldiers of the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment are deployed from Tennessee to Poland. A National Guard Unit, they are part of a multinational NATO Battle Group and participating in Atlantic Resolve.
SGT Brent T. explained, “We are the first relief 2CR has had since they first deployed here in early 2017 and established on a small older Polish Army base with very little amenities. We are currently joined and leading the TF consisting of U.S. Army, Polish, Croatian, Romanian, and British troops participating in “inter-operability” training and a show of support to our NATO allies in the face of increasing Russian aggression as seen in recent years.”
These Soldiers were doing what they could to add to the base amenities and make it better for the soldiers currently deployed and those that will follow. They reached out to OSD hoping for some help.
SGT Brent T. continued, “The base has very few amenities. We have been able to establish a workout facility (read: tent) for US Soldiers to exercise and burn off some of the built-up stress and boredom. But with the temperatures below 0 and constant snow, we don’t have great indoor facilities to allow soldiers a chance to get away from the barracks and relax. I have taken the initiative to assist one other individual in securing a space and equipment in partnership with the USO. We are slowly increasing the MWR opportunities here and hope to build the programs enough to leave with our second rotation coming in to relieve us and when 2CR returns.”
We were more than happy to contribute to theses soldiers efforts.
