OSD Steps Up for 10th Mountain Division Soldiers Deployed to Spartan Base in Afghanistan
FORT POLK, LOUISIANA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (February 18, 2018) /For immediate release/ — Troops deployed from Fort Polk, Louisiana to Afghanistan find themselves on a long deployment absent any activities during down time. The 10th Mountain troops, numbering over 200, connected with OSD for support before returning home in the late Spring.
Captain Paul B., also the Chaplain for the unit, wrote, “It would help boost morale to have a video game system with games and anything else you can provide to hard working soldiers who serve their country proudly.”
“We are Infantry and in a location without any MWR or USO support. We have nothing available during down time.”
Thankfully, OSD provided numerous packages of support including thousands of VIA packets, courtesy of the strategic partnership with Starbucks.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. This unit will return home in the spring as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events in central Louisiana.
