OSD Ships “Supply Drop” to Sailors on USS Theodore Roosevelt for Deployment to US Seventh Fleet and Fifth Fleet Area of Operations
SAN DIEGO, CALI. & SEATTLE, WA November 27, 2017 /For immediate release/ — OSD ships “Supply Drop” to Sailors on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) for duration of Deployment in the United States Seventh Fleet and Fifth Fleet Area of Operations.
On October 6th, Sailors of the Electronic Attack Squadron 139 (VAQ 139), out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington, departed San Diego for a deployment to the United States Seventh Fleet and United States Fifth Fleet area of operations, accompanied with Carrier Strike Group 9 and Carrier Air Wing Seventeen.
Jonathan C, Event Coordinator for his command, said, “We are currently two months into our deployment with the USS Theodore Roosevelt, CVN-71. We provide electronic attack for 5th/7th fleet operations. The sailors that would benefit from the supply drops are the hard chargers working on the flight deck, hangar bay, mess decks, and in the admin office that keep our squadron running at 110%. They are responsible for keeping our aircrew safe by conducting proper maintenance on the EA-18G aircraft.”
He continued, “I appreciate any opportunity to help build morale within my command because it will contribute to the overall effectiveness of our operations.”
OSD Warehouse Manager, Laeth Damon, said, “OSD is always excited to serve our sailors as we know time at sea can be a drain on morale. We’re grateful to have the support of numerous partners including Starbucks, GAEMS and Bezier to help show support and give a little taste of home.”
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted over 150,000 active military personnel this year to troops in dozens of locations around the globe.
