OSD Seattle Runs Carousel for Thousands of Shoppers in Support of Treehouse Foster Care Services
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON December 17, 2017 /For immediate release/ — Every year OSD Seattle’s military community members have made it a point to give back to the local community during the Christmas Season. OSD Seattle volunteered to operate the Westlake Center Carousel for thousands of holiday shoppers raising donations in support of Treehouse Foster Care Services.
Treehouse, impacting foster kids in Washington State, is dedicated to closing the achievement gap between youth in foster care and their peers forever. By students with the academic and other essential support that all kids need to succeed, they’ve watched them become more self-determined and invested in their education than ever before.
Long-time OSD Seattle volunteer, Devin Givens, said, “Every year around Christmas we make sure to do something for the children in the area. Not only is it a great way to thank the community that has supported us, it’s a really good feeling to know that you’re helping improve the holidays for some kids. Even these grizzly combat vets love making the kids smile.”
Chance McPheron, US Army Veteran and Regional Director for OSD Northwest, echoed the same, saying, “This was a really fun and unique way to give back to the community. Treehouse does amazing work for foster children in Washington State and it was really cool to run the carousel. There were easily a couple thousand people that came through in the 5 hours we were there, and everyone had a lot of fun helping out.”
