OSD Columbus Fall Recap
COLUMBUS, OHIO (November 30, 2018) /For immediate release/ — It has been a busy fall for OSD Columbus! One of our newest chapters, OSD Columbus has been busy planning and hosting some great events. It has been exciting to watch this small Chapter grow and develop in just a few short months. Take a look at all they have been doing!
Fisher Veterans Association and OSD Veteran Welcome Cookout
OSD Columbus kicked things off this fall by co-hosting a welcome cookout with the Fisher Veterans Association. This cookout was for all new Veterans at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. This was a great way for OSD members to connect with other Veterans on campus and share resources available through OSD
The Ohio State Veteran Lounge – OSD Supply Drop
OSD Columbus also completed an epic ’Supply Drop’ to The Ohio State University’s Veteran’s Lounge. OSU seres over 1,800 veterans through various degree programs. Now, these student Veterans can relax and play some games between studying and classes.
First Friday Cigar Night
OSD Columbus has also established a First Friday Cigar Night. Members got the opportunity to learn about cigars and engage in great conversation with other OSD members.
2nd Annual Military Appreciation Night
OSD Columbus took part in Olentangy Orange High School 2nd Annual Military Appreciation Night along with 25 other local Veteran Support Organizations. At this event, local students who received scholarships and also those who enlisted in the United States Armed Force were honored. OSD members networked with other organizations in Columbus who support Veterans, Active Duty Service Members, and their families. Additionally, Veterans and military members got free entrance to the game.
LinkedIn for Veterans / Active Duty / Spouses
The first in a series of Heroic Forces events, LinkedIn for Veterans taught veterans, active duty members, and spouses how to strategically use LinkedIn for networking and hiring. Those in attendance had their LinkedIn profiles reviewed and got real-time feedback on ways to optimize their presence on LinkedIn.
OSD Columbus is growing like crazy and there are lots are lot more professional development, service, and social events slated for the coming months. OSD Columbus Chapter Leader Matthew Rosenbaugh said, “We are excited about the interest and support we have seen for OSD Columbus in just a few months. We are looking forward to growing the chapter and offering even more events for Veterans and Veteran supporters in Central Ohio.”

OSD’s local chapters are the backbone of our community engagement and outreach. Chapters are made up of groups of active duty members, veterans, family members and civilian supporters devoted to giving back at the community level. OSD chapters host various social, professional, and service related events each month. Social events allow members the chance to get to know one another, build meaningful relationships, and have fun as a team. The camaraderie built through these events create bonds which last a lifetime and are proven as a positive impact on mental health.
