OSD Begins Ongoing Support Initiative for Returning Soldiers at US Army Fort Knox in Kentucky
FORT KNOX, KENTUCKY December 28, 2017 /For immediate release/ — OSD starts what will be a long-term relationship with the US Army 502D Multi-Role Bridge Company (MRBC) at Fort Knox in Kentucky.
The 502D Multi-Role Bridge Company (MRBC) deploys worldwide to execute strategic-level logistical support to a theater of operations by opening and maintaining critical lines of communication over open-gap, wet-gap, and in conducting active riverine operations.
While not deployed, these soldiers live, work and train on and around Fort Knox, Kentucky.
PFC Damion O. said, “When new soldiers come to my unit from deployment or from basic-training I am the one to break the ice and get them used to the life at Fort Knox. I was recommended to come to OSD by an old friend on YouTube for support to help soldiers recover from deployments and to give basic trainees something to remind them of their home and families.”
He continued by asking for, “[g]ames for the soldiers getting back from deployments that will help feed their need for adrenaline so they will not drink and drive to go find it.”
OSD Medical Director, Erik S. Johnson, said, “Relationships like this one with the 502nd at Fort Knox are of great importance to the morale and readiness of our soldiers. Providing support will go well beyond this initial “Supply Drop” and continue as long as there are soldiers to serve.”
OSD has provided items from Starbucks, Bezier Games, Steve Jackson Games, Ubisoft, Bethesda and other key partners.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted over 150,000 active military personnel this year to troops in scores of locations around the globe.
