AUSTIN, TEXAS (December 26, 2018) /For immediate release/ —   On Veterans Day, Onnit hosted a small group of veteran-supportive organizations for a day of fitness, fun, and networking and some lucky OSD members had the opportunity to take part.

The day got started with fresh, hot, Black Rifle Coffee which helped attendees wake up and prepare for an intense morning workout at Onnit Gym. Led by the expert trainers at Onnit, the group was broken into teams and challenged to compete in intense physical challenges for time and bragging rights. OSD Austin member Charline Browning said, “Some of us old guys had a tough time keeping pace with the several former UFC fighters and pro athletes, but it was a blast to try.”

Fortunately, everyone managed to survive and get in a great workout. The winning team was led by Tim Kennedy, a former UFC fighter and US Special Forces soldier, and a number of Onnit staff members. To help with recovery and provide energy for the rest of the day, Onnit’s snack bar provided some killer protein smoothies.

Post workout, attendees headed out to The Range at Austin for lunch and an afternoon of networking. At The Range, attendees had the opportunity to try out some amazing weapons, from high-end pistols to a full auto UZIs. But perhaps most valuable was the time spent networking with like-minded veterans and veteran supporters. Charlie explained, “We networked with Aubrey Marcus, founder of Onnit as well as a best-selling author, chatted with Mat Best of Black Rifle Coffee and Nick Palmisciano of Ranger Up about ways to support Veteran’s mental health, and spoke with Tim Crockett, a UK Special Forces Veteran and the man behind Tame the Kraken, an initiative to row a boat across the Atlantic and raise awareness for Veterans mental health. We got to share about OSD’s work to help active duty military and veterans and learn more about the work these individuals are doing on behalf of Veterans. It was exciting to have so many people passionate about Veterans issues in one place, I think big things will come out of it.”

It isn’t every day that you get the chance to bring together such a big group of influential organizations and people in the Veteran community. Big thanks to our partners at Onnit for facilitating the opportunity.
