Before heading back to school, some deserving veteran and military families enjoyed one more day of summer fun at OSD Warrior Day.

“It was great to see so many military families out enjoying the afternoon,” OSD Chief Community Officer Scott Morrison said. “We were blown away by the community support and eagerness of sponsors to make a day like this happen. This community truly cares about veteran and military families.”

Thanks to OSD and a number of our partners, nearly 200 people started the day with a delicious lunch at Pizza Delight. Pizza Delight, a local veteran-owned business in Central Texas, provided our military families with a buffet loaded with their signature New York style pizza and wings.

After lunch, the group headed out for a fun afternoon in the sun at Rock’N River Waterpark. From drops slides to splash pads, Rock’N River had something for everyone to enjoy. The group finished the day with a little baseball, watching the Round Rock Express take on the Oklahoma City Dodgers. Even though Round Rock Express didn’t pull out a win, an evening at the ballpark is always time well spent.

“We had a fantastic time with veteran families and sponsors,” OSD member and Army veteran Charlie Browning explained. “We really felt the community vibe as kids ate and played together, parents chatted and ate, and even had several veterans walk up and join OSD and offered to volunteer on the spot!  It was a brilliant afternoon.”

The perfect way to wrap up summer.
