On May 9th, Keller Williams employees across the country took a break from buying and selling houses to give back to their community. The initiative is an annual event called RED Day, which stands for “renew, energize, and donate.” In all, more than 1,000 Keller Williams offices and 1,800 employees took the day off to give back to local charities.

In Texas, Keller Williams joined forces with OSD to serve Veterans. Together, OSD and Keller Williams volunteers helped 5 Austin area Veterans with some needed house clean up and maintenance. They cleaned garages, painted, mowed lawns, fixed fences, cleaned up yards, and added landscaping.

OSD Chief Community Officer, Scott Morrison, explained, “Keller Williams and OSD hit a home-run on RED Day. Together we were able to enhance the lives of 5 Austin area Veterans through teamwork and some good old hard work! I am thankful for the OSD and Keller Williams volunteers who are true supporters of the Veteran community.”

Keller Williams employee and RED Day volunteer Paul continued, “Every year Keller Williams reaches out into the community and finds a way to serve. This year we are so happy to have paired with OSD to be able to give back to Veterans.”

These volunteers made a big impact in just one day. OSD and Keller Williams took on projects that were difficult for the Veterans and their families to accomplish on their own and the end result meant a lot to these families.

Winona Dixie Clarkson-Denny, wife of a Navy Veteran assisted ruing RED Day, said, “We are both very grateful for the people that came put to help clear up things we couldn’t do. It looks amazing!”

OSD Chapters are the backbone of our local outreach. Chapters are made up of groups of active duty members, veterans, family members and civilian supporters devoted to giving back at the community level. OSD chapters host various social, professional, and community stewardship events each month. Community Stewardship events allow Chapters the chance to give back in a meaningful way. Through service, Chapters are able to have a lasting and positive impact in their communities. To date, OSD Chapters have contributed tens of thousands of volunteer hours. Additionally, the camaraderie built through these events create bonds which last a lifetime.
