K9 Handlers Deployed from Fort Hood to Afghanistan Recieve OSD Supply Drop
KILLEEN, TEXAS & AUSTIN, TEXAS (April 30, 2018) /For immediate release/ — The Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) K9 handlers are currently deployed from Fort Hood to Afghanistan. Work as a K9 handler means frequent travel and long hours. SPC Tanner S. explained, “We spend most of our deployment picking up and moving all over and never get to settle in anywhere. It’s a lot of work being a handler.”
Additionally, their travel often takes them to remote locations with little to do.
SPC Tanner S. continued, “I am traveling around the country constantly as well as the other handlers I am here with. We end up spending a lot of time at FOBs with little to nothing to do on downtime. Having something to do while we are off is a big deal and would be greatly appreciated.”
OSD was happy to provide a “Supply Drop” to help boost morale and give these Soldiers something to do in their downtime.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in the fall as members of OSD’s Texas Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Killeen.
