Isolated Troops in Afghanistan Upgrade Small Camp with ‘Supply Drop’ from OSD
FORT BENNING, GEORGIA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 4, 2018) /For immediate release/ — Hundreds of troops deployed from Fort Benning, Georgia to Afghanistan receive first and only amenities from OSD. Many of these troops find themselves within a small camp on an Afghan Army Base with no PX or MWR.
US Army MSG Matthew N. shared, “Having a Supply Drop would give the Soldiers something to pass the time. The only way in or out of this small base, which is about the size of two football fields, is by helicopter. We advise an Afghan Army Brigade and Division, supported by a infantry platoon who provides security for the advisors.”
“Sirs, the package was received and thank you for all the support! We will continue to stay in contact. Again, thank you and your team.”
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. This unit will return home in early 2019 as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events in and around Fort Benning, Georgia.
