Infantrymen on Front Lines of Afghanistan Get Moral Boost from OSD Supply Drop
FORT CARSON, COLORADO & AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 15, 2018) /For immediate release/ — The 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division is on a nine-month deployment from Fort Carson to Afghanistan. An infantry battalion, their mission routinely takes them outside of the wire.
Their work is dangerous and high stress. These soldiers regularly put their lives at risk. Specialist Derrell H. explained, “Our soldiers are infantrymen and are on the front lines. They are always at risk anytime they leave on a mission.” Additionally, unpredictable missions and the need for quick response time (these typically only get 30 minutes notice before leaving on a mission), means they don’t get the option of taking advantage of the MWR or USO.
OSD was happy to supply these soldiers with a Supply Drop and a much-needed way to get their mind off of the dangers of their job.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in the Winter as members of OSD’s Southwest Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Fort Carson.
