Fort Benning Soldiers Deployed to Austere Environment Get Boost from OSD ‘Supply Drop’

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (April 25, 2018) /For immediate release/ —   The 1st Security Force Assistant Brigade is currently deployed from Fort Benning to Afghanistan. Sgt Derek W. and his team currently serve as combat advisors. They are stationed in a remote area of the country, which means limited access to comfort and convenience items.

He explained, “We are in an austere environment and have limited access to hygiene products, snacks, and entertainment. We also have no access to an MWR, USO, PX, etc.”

In such conditions, it can be hard to keep morale up. Sgt Derek W. was hoping for some small way to give his fellow Soldiers a boost and though a Supply Drop could be the answer.

These troops are now enjoying games, coffee, and other supplies from generous donors including Starbucks, Rip It Energy, Disgruntled Decks, FanDuel, GAEMS, and other key OSD partners.

OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in this winter as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Georgia.
