Army Infantry Soldiers from Fort Benning Get Huge MWR Upgrade in Afghanistan from OSD

FORT BENNING, GEORGIA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (May 10, 2018) /For immediate release/ — US Army Infantry deployed to Afghanistan through early 2019 have a major shift in morale thanks to support from OSD.

The troops are an infantry company with the mission of supporting the Advisors with security. The company is split between a couple bases, one of which is in the process of reopening for the current mission here in Afghanistan.

Aside from a makeshift gym, there are no MWR facilities for the hundreds of troops in the area. A sizable Supply Drop from OSD is now providing much needed respite during downtime.

SFC Joshua M reported back, “I want to say thank you to you and your team for your extremely generous support and donations to us on behalf of our soldiers.”

“The guys were blown away that someone would do this for them and and it has absolutely lifted some spirits around here! Thank you again to you, your team and your supporters and for going above and beyond in taking an interest in these Soldiers and going above and beyond that with your contributions to Soldiers forward around the world.”

“We received a ton of black tea from Starbucks which was amazing!”

Hundreds of troops are now enjoying games, coffee and other supplies from generous donors including Starbucks, Microsoft, Disgruntled Decks, USAA, GAEMS and other key OSD partners.

OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. This unit will return as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events.
