Army Aviation Unit in Afghanistan in Need of Support Due to Lack of MWR Facilities, OSD Delivers
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (April 4, 2018) /For immediate release/ — 2-3 Aviation Regiment from Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia is deployed to Afghanistan through the mid-Summer.
The unit is currently at a small outpost with both their MEDEVAC and Apache platoons. Due to the conditions these soldiers reached out to OSD for assistance.
SGT Taylor K. wrote, “Due to our location we do not have access to places like the USO or MWR to go play games and things of that nature. I think for our soldiers here it would greatly improve the morale for some of the soldiers.”
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. This unit will return home in the summer as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events in eastern Georgia and Northern Florida.
