Airmen Deployed from Vandenberg Air Force Base Get Much Needed Morale Boost from OSD ‘Supply Drop’
LOMPOC, CALIFORNIA & AUSTIN, TEXAS (July 29, 2018) /For immediate release/ — The 724 EAB LRF is deployed from Vandenberg Air Force Base to Africa. They are responsible for the transportation of food, mail, supplies, and equipment and also manage the upkeep of vehicles and ensure there is plenty of fuel.
TSgt Matthew J. explained, “Our unit is the lifeline for this base. We are responsible for transporting and processing the food, supplies, mail, and equipment that come to base. This is an austere location with little to no amenities, and my unit is directly responsible for making sure everyone on base gets what they need. We make sure food gets onto the base in a timely manner so it isn’t stuck out in the heat and subsequently tossed out for exposure to the elements. We make sure mail is safely and securely transported to and from the base – keeping that connection to home open for every one deployed to our location.”
These airmen work hard in all types of elements and they were hoping for a way to unwind after a long day of work. TSgt Matthew J. continued, “These guys are spending hours each day wearing full protective gear making sure the cargo gets to where it needs to go, and it’d be great for them to have some games to help unwind at the end of their day.”
OSD was happy to provide these Airmen with a much-needed Supply Drop.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Airmen will return home in the Winter as members of OSD’s Southwest Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Lompoc.
