509th Clearance Company on Unanticipated Deployment Gets Morale Boost from OSD Supply Drop
ROBERTS, MISSOURI & AUSTIN, TEXAS (June 4, 2018) /For immediate release/ — Deployed from Fort Leonard Wood to Afghanistan, the 509th Clearance Company is an Engineer Unit specializing in route clearance. SPC Demarius P. explained, “Our job is mobility, counter-mobility, and survivability of the US and Allied Forces. Currently apart of Operation Freedom Sentinel and Operation Freedom Resolve we are working with the Czech Army, Georgians, Polish, Marines, and the Afghan Army to allow the Afghan army to maintain positive control over the region.”
They were tasked with a last-minute deployment, many of the soldiers were pretty low on morale. Additionally, they work long days and only have a few days off every two weeks.
SPC Demarius P. continued, “With long work days and only one or two days we off in a two week time period, some rest and recovery well deserved and needed. The support would be greatly appreciated.”
