455th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron Deployed to Afghanistan Receives OSD ‘Supply Drop’
AIBILEEN, TEXAS & AUSTIN, TEXAS (September 18, 2018) /For immediate release/ — The 455th Expeditionary Aircraft Maintenance Squadron is currently deployed from Dyess Air Force Base to Afghanistan. This Squadron is made up of C-130J aircraft maintainers, such as Engine Troops, Communication/Navigation Troops, Hydraulic Troops, Guidance, and Flight Control Troops, Electrician Troops, and Crew Chiefs.
TSgt Joseph S. explained, “We ensure the aircraft is safe for flight for the aircrew to deliver life-saving cargo and special forces operators.”
Their work is essential to success in Afghanistan, which means the ops tempo is high for this squadron. TSgt Joseph S. reached out to OSD in the hopes of securing a ‘Supply Drop’ for his squadron in need of some fun and relaxation.
TSgt Joseph S. responded, “Thank you very much. I received your ‘Supply Drop’ today. It was Christmas in Afghanistan in July. Pure excitement from my co-workers and friends. I can’t thank you enough. You have made this deployment so much better.”
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Airmen will return home in the early Fall as members of OSD’s Texas Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within the Central Texas Chapter.
