3RD Annual VETOBER™: “One Day is Not Enough™” Campaign Returns for 2018 Impacting Veterans Around the United States
AUSTIN, TEXAS (SEPTEMBER 20, 2018) /For immediate release/ — VETOBER™ started in 2016 after an OSD leadership meeting where members were growing frustrated with the lack of substantive support for our Nation’s veterans. Veterans Day, celebrated on November 11th each, seemed a small consolation for the hundreds of thousands of veterans in our communities.
In an effort to increase the emphasis on honoring service as well as shining light on solutions to address veteran transitional challenges, VETOBER™ set out to take what was a single day and grow the spotlight to a month-long event during the month of October.
OSD CEO & Executive Director Glenn Banton shared, “Veterans Day is important and we will continue to lead and support service opportunities in November. We believe though that as a country, we can do more. OSD is grateful for those who’ve played a part in the growing VETOBER movement and look forward to the future results where our Veterans receive the respect and support they’ve earned. Each year we see additional momentum and I hope that in the next couple years we get to a point where we’re having large festivals around the country with our community and partners.”
For the upcoming 3rd Annual VETOBER™, officially starting on October 1, numerous companies, currently including BAE Systems, Patriot Labs, Rip It Energy Fuel, and Fanduel will participate in fundraising efforts that support OSD Chapters across the US. These efforts include percentage of sales donations, program underwriting, and traditional fundraisers. Many local small businesses, community groups, and individuals will do the same. These funds directly impact veterans and family members in communities all around the globe.
Within OSD Chapters, VETOBER™ celebrations and social events will occur during the month.
