2-5 Cav Soldiers from Fort Hood Enjoying OSD Supply Drop

KILLEEN, TEXAS & AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 9, 2018) /For immediate release/ —   The sniper section of HHC 2-5 Cav is deployed to Bulgaria from Fort Hood. They are there to train and support neighboring allies.

Stationed in a remote area, they have limited access to entertainment items. A small MWR provides a few options, but these soldiers were hoping for more to take their mind off of missing home and their loved ones.

SGT Bryan A explained, “Being in the middle of Bulgarian country, 2 hours from the nearest town, there’s not much to do. We have a very small MWR, but the facility is limited in what it can provide. There is WiFi and AAFES TV, but only 2 pool tables and a dartboard. The soldiers in the Sniper section are all big nerds, and we’ll play cards or games on our phones together from time to time, but I think they’ll really appreciate having more options to keep them from getting home-sick too often.”

OSD was happy to provide these soldiers with some things to fill their downtime and help the deployment go a bit faster.

These troops are now enjoying games, coffee, and other supplies from generous donors including Starbucks, Rip It Energy, Disgruntled Decks, FanDuel, GAEMS, and other key OSD partners.

OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in the Fall as members of OSD’s Texas Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Fort Hood.
