101st Combat Aviation Brigade Deployed from Fort Campbell Enjoying OSD Supply Drop
FORT CAMPBELL, KENTUCKY & AUSTIN, TEXAS (September 14, 2018) /For immediate release/ — Soldiers of Task Force Eagle Assault, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade are deployed from Fort Campbell to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel. Deployed to a remote and underdeveloped part of the country, these soldiers have little to do in their downtime and morale was pretty low. 1st Lieutenant Ryan C. reached out to OSD hoping to secure a Supply Drop for his hardworking battalion.
He explained, “The location that we are deployed to very underdeveloped. Part of our mission here other than support of the SFAB is to uplift this old location for future units. The battalion in general works hard every day in the heat and dust with little to no R&R. We have no MWR and no PX, mail only comes once a week. I am the forward commander for the forward support company and I know that at the very least my Soldiers would benefit from having some fun things to do in their office time. Morale is low right now after having been here for over a month, we get IDF on a daily basis and having something enjoyable for Soldiers to in their off time would seriously increase morale.”
It was a small ask and OSD was happy to answer.
OSD’s “Supply Drop” program has impacted hundreds of thousands of active military personnel in scores of locations around the globe. These Soldiers will return home in the Spring as members of OSD’s Southeast Region, leading and participating in social, professional and service events within Fort Campbell.
